Dame Pat McGrath has revealed the concoction of drugstore and professional beauty products that went into her viral glassy beauty looks for Maison Martin Margiela’s couture spring 2024 show — and that her own version is “coming soon.”

During an Instagram Live masterclass (which had over 16,000 viewers at one point), McGrath and her glam squad team showcased how they created her perfectly-imperfect porcelain doll makeup for creative director John Galliano. She revealed that they finished the looks by airbrushing a custom mix of face masks with distilled water and other ingredients, including a few products available on Amazon: the Proot Calendula Peel-Off Face Mask and Freemans Renewing Peel-Off Cucumber Gel Mask.

The soon-to-drop glass finish product was one of two launches that the Hollywood makeup artist teased during the live tutorial. She also revealed that a new soft pink hue of her best-selling blush is also on the way.

McGrath explained the creative process of developing the looks: “The glass skin we’ve been practicing for three years, and we finally got it right for the show.” It took “weeks and weeks” to nail down the final looks for the Margiela show, where Gwendoline Christie walked down the runway and Kim Kardashian, Kylie Jenner and Noah Cyrus were among the stars in the front row.

The makeup artist spent two hours on Instagram Live walking viewers through her porcelain doll looks, which began with products from Pat McGrath Labs’ Sublime Perfection line, including the primer, foundation and concealer. “It really was about this beautiful serum-like finish of all our foundations and products” to make the skin look glassier … We had to take it to that perfect consistency,” she said.

McGrath added, “All of the girls loved being able to pull off their beauty in one go.”

A slew of stars and celebrity makeup artists joined the IG Live session, including fellow celebrity makeup artists Sara Tanno and Gregory Arlt, hairstylist Guido Palau, actresses Jodie Turner-Smith and Kristie, to name a few.

“We are screaming here in the Tron trailer!” commented Turner-Smith.
