Ukrainian officials said a Russian missile hit a residential building in the central city of Kryvyi Rih Tuesday, killing at least three people and injuring at least 38 others.

Oleksandr Vilkul, head of the Kryvyi Rih’s military administration, said the strike on the building was one of three missiles that hit the city, which is the hometown of President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and a frequent target of Russian attacks.

Zelenskyy expressed condolences on social media and thanked rescuers for providing assistance.

“Every day, our cities and villages suffer similar strikes. Every day, Ukraine loses people to Russian evil,” he wrote. “There can be no pause, not for a day, a week, let alone a month, in support for simply defending lives, for saving people from terror.”

Earlier Tuesday, Russian officials reported damage from Ukrainian drone strikes at two fuel sites in Russia, while also saying Russian forces repelled attempted cross-border ground attacks by pro-Ukrainian militias.

Two groups that claim to be made up of Russians opposed to the Kremlin said they crossed into Russia.

Russia’s defense ministry said Ukrainian “terrorist formations” tried to invade Russia from three directions, including targeting the Belgorod and Kursk regions.

The Ukrainian military’s aerial attacks Tuesday targeted the Russian capital, as well as regions bordering Ukraine and deeper into Russian territory.

The governor of the Nizhny Novgorod region, about 775 kilometers from Ukraine, said a Ukrainian drone set an oil refinery on fire.

In the Oryol region of western Russia, the regional governor said a drone crash at a fuel facility caused a fire there but no casualties.

A Ukrainian drone also attacked the Belgorod region, which borders Ukraine, leaving some people without power, according to the regional governor.

Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said Russian air defenses destroyed a drone that was flying toward the Russian capital. He reported no damage or injuries from falling debris.

Officials in the Tula and Kursk regions also reported Ukrainian drones being destroyed in those areas Tuesday.
