Jersey Shore star, Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino has topped the charts with his poignant new memoir, “Reality Check,” which chronicles his rise and fall from fame, and his return home to his friends and family after a much-publicized stint in prison.
Officially titled, “Reality Check: Making the Best of The Situation – How I Overcame Addiction, Loss, and Prison,” Sorrentino’s book is currently number one on Amazon’s bestselling biographies charts, ahead of Britney Spears’ former chart-topper and Barbra Streisand’s new book. Released January 2, Sorrentino’s memoir is also in the Top 20 of Amazon’s overall bestselling books charts.
Reality Check: Making the Best of The Situation – How I Overcame Addiction, Loss, and Prison
In the 235-page memoir, published by Ballast Books, Sorrentino grapples with the image and lifestyle he created for himself on Jersey Shore, the rowdy and raucous MTV reality show that propelled him and his young castmates into a whirlwind of fame. While the TV star recounts run-ins with celebrities like The Rock, Robert Downey Jr., Leonardo DiCaprio and Drake, he also writes openly about his descent into addiction, including trying heroin for the first time. Worth noting: Sorrentino eventually went to rehab and has now been sober since 2015.
Of course, the public also saw Sorrentino at his lowest when he was booked on tax evasion charges and sentenced to eight months in prison. In his new book, the reality star documents his time in prison and writes about finding the resolve to return home a better man.
Jersey Shore fans will also want to pick up “Reality Check,” as “The Situation” reveals behind-the-scenes details from his time on the show, which continues to this day with Jersey Shore: Family Vacation. “Mike paints a raw and uncensored picture of his rise to stardom, steep fall, and amazing renaissance, all told with unwavering honesty,” reads the official book description. “Divulging everything from drug-fueled orgies to what really happened behind the scenes of reality television’s most loved and dysfunctional family, Mike’s book reveals all for the first time.”
“Reality Check” is available now on hardcover, Kindle and as an audiobook (read by Sorrentino and wife Lauren, among others). Grab a free trial to Audible to listen to The Situation’s memoir on audiobook for free.
As Ballast Books declares, “Mike teaches readers how to overcome obstacles and embrace change. From conquering personal demons to finding redemption, he proves that it’s never too late to turn your life around and make the best of any situation.”
