Events of the Week: ‘Curb Your Enthusiasm,’ Grammys Parties and More

Here’s a look at this week’s biggest premieres, parties and openings in Los Angeles and New York, including events for Curb Your Enthusiasm, Mr. & Mrs. Smith and the Grammys.

Curb Your Enthusiasm premiere

Larry David, Cheryl Hines, Jeff Garlin, Susie Essman and J.B. Smoove attended the L.A. premiere event for Curb‘s 12th and final season on Tuesday, alongside guest stars including Ted Danson, Jon Hamm and Vince Vaughn.

Mr. & Mrs. Smith premiere

Donald Glover and Maya Erskine debuted their new Prime Video series on Wednesday in NYC, alongside costars Parker Posey, John Turturro, Michaela Coel and Eiza González.

Spotify’s Best New Artist party

Best new artist nominees Noah Kahan, Gracie Abrams, Ice Spice, Victoria Monét, Coco Jones, Jelly Roll and The War and Treaty performed at the annual Spotify celebration on Thursday.

Warner Music Group party

Warner Music Group’s annual Grammy kickoff celebration was held on Thursday, honoring nominees Janelle Monáe, Fred again.., Burna Boy, Zach Bryan, Skrillex, Gorillaz, Brandy Clark, Brandi Carlile, Joni Mitchell, Metallica, Kelly Clarkson, Lil Uzi Vert, 21 Savage, Kacey Musgraves, Chris Stapleton and Laufey. The party featured performances by Charli XCX and Teddy Swims.

“For One ’70s Night” Only Griselda event

Netflix hosted a special “For One ’70s Night Only” event in support of Griselda on Friday with musical performances from Latto, as well as Venus X and Hannah Rad.

EMA Awards

The Environmental Media Association held its annual awards on Saturday, recognizing TV and film production companies for their green storytelling and dedicated work in improving environmental issues, as well as presenting Laura Dern with the EMA Ongoing Commitment Award.

The Tiger’s Apprentice premiere 

Sandra Oh, Brandon Soo Hoo, Leah Lewis, Sherry Cola, Deborah S. Craig, Kheng Hua Tan, Diana Lee Inosanto and Patrick Gallagher walked the carpet on Saturday for their Paramount+ animated film.

Orion and the Dark premiere

Netflix hosted the L.A. premiere of its animated film on Saturday with cast members Angela Bassett, Jacob Tremblay, Paul Walter Hauser, Colin Hanks, Golda Rosheuvel, Aparna Nancherla and Mia Akemi Brown.

Marvel’s Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur premiere

The cast and creative team behind the show celebrated its second season with an Atlanta premiere on Saturday.

Kings from Queens: The Run-DMC Story premiere

Peacock celebrated its new Run-DMC docuseries in New York on Saturday, with founding member Darryl “DMC” McDaniels in attendance.

The Greatest Night in Pop premiere

After debuting at Sundance, the Netflix documentary — which follows the recording of “We Are the World” — premiered in Los Angeles on Monday.

Genius: MLK/X premiere

National Geographic celebrated the latest season of its Genius anthology series on Monday in Los Angeles.

Scrambled premiere

Director and star Leah McKendrick joined cast members Yvonne Strahovski, Clancy Brown, June Diane Raphael and Laura Cerón at the Los Angeles premiere of their Lionsgate film on Monday.

Shattered Glass: A WNBPA Story screening

The WNBPA and PUMA presented an exclusive screening of their feature documentary, which goes behind the scenes with MVPs Jonquel Jones, Nneka Ogwumike, Breanna Stewart and Sheryl Swoopes, in New York on Monday.  

The Prince’s Trust celebration

Dame Joan Collins DBE, Pierce Brosnan OBE, Stephen Fry and Nicholas Hoult celebrated the work of The Prince’s Trust — which was founded by King Charles III in 1976 to support underserved young people in work, education and training — in Los Angeles on Tuesday.

Resonator Awards

We Are Moving The Needle, a non-profit organization advancing gender equity for producers and engineers, held its inaugural Resonator Awards in Los Angeles on Tuesday, honoring six women for their work in the recording studio as producers, engineers and mixers: Alanis Morissette, Corinne Bailey Rae, Caroline Polachek, Catherine Marks, Laura Sisk and Jennifer Decilveo. Shirley Manson, boygenius, Jack Antonoff, Ariel Rechtshaid, FLETCHER, Autumn Rowe and We Are Moving the Needle founder Emily Lazar were on hand to present the awards. 

In Our DNA: Hip House premiere

Kicking off Grammy week, on Tuesday Black Experience on Xfinity and 300 Studios celebrated the new three-part docuseries In Our DNA: Hip House, with a red carpet premiere event and panel discussion at the Hip-Hop Til Infinity Experience.

Billboard Power 100 Party

Billboard hosted its Power 100 party in L.A. on Wednesday, where SZA presented the Clive Davis Visionary Award to Anthony “Top Dawg” Tiffith and Terrence “Punch” Henderson and Lucian Grainge presented the UMG Impact Award to Boygenius.

Black Music Action Coalition Music Maker dinner

The Black Music Action Coalition Music Maker dinner, hosted by Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis, took place in L.A. on Wednesday in support of the economic empowerment of Black music entrepreneurs, artists, producers and songwriters. Guests included Victoria Monét, Jermaine Dupri, Babyface, Muni Long, Flavor Flav, Teedra Moses, Mondaii and Kenny Burns.
