Ingrid Andress has made her grand return, less than a year after her controversial performance of the national anthem.
The Grammy-nominated artist decided to perform “The Star-Spangled Banner” again, this time at the Colorado Avalanche hockey game on Friday Night. In a video posted on her social media (below), Andress could be seen from behind successfully singing “The Star-Spangled Banner” to a packed crowd in Denver’s Ball Arena.
“We’re back baby. Thank you @coloradoavalanche,” she captioned the post.

Last July, Andress was criticized for her off-key rendition of the national anthem ahead at the Home Run Derby, with the video of the performance quickly going viral on social media. The artist later apologized in a statement on Instagram, writing, “I’m not gonna bullshit y’all, I was drunk last night. I’m checking myself into a facility today to get the help I need.”
“That was not me last night,” she added in her statement. “I apologize to MLB, all the fans, and this country I love so much for that rendition. I’ll let y’all know how rehab is I hear it’s super fun.”
At the time, many compared her rendition of the national anthem to Fergie’s infamous version from the 2018 NBA All-Star Game. Andress — who has earned four Grammy nominations throughout her career, including for best new artist in 2021 — is most known for her songs “More Hearts Than Mine” and “Wishful Drinking.” She has also co-wrote Grammy-winning singer Charli XCX‘s song “Boys” as well as Bebe Rexha’s “Girl in the Mirror.”
