Add Amy Poehler to the growing list of podcasters. The actress, writer and filmmaker will launch weekly series Good Hang With Amy Poehler this March.
The Saturday Night Live alum, currently on the circuit as the show readies its 50th anniversary special Feb. 16, announced the news during a Monday morning appearance on Today — simultaneously releasing details online.
Good Hang will find Poehler sharing personal stories and chatting with fellow luminaries about what and who makes them laugh. A video podcast, Good Hang is a partnership between her own Paper Kite Productions and Spotify’s The Ringer. Poehler will executive produce alongside Ringer founder Bill Simmons and recent Paper Kite hire, Jenna Weiss-Berman. “I am so excited Spotify and Bill are welcoming me,” said Poehler. “I can’t wait to have some good, dumb fun.”
“Amy should have one of the biggest podcasts in the world — she’s a great hang, she’s funny, she’s curious, she knows everybody and she actually loves the genre and puts real thought into what works and what doesn’t work,” added Simmons. “I can’t believe she actually wants to do this. We are over the moon that we get to work with her.”
The actress has recently had a fruitful run behind the camera — voicing the lead role in 2024 No. 1 box office champ Inside Out, producing Chelsea Peretti’s First Time Female Filmmaker and directing the Emmy-winning 2022 documentary Lucy and Desi.
Poehler may be new to podcast hosting, but it’s not her first foray into the genre. She previously starred in scripted comedy podcast Say More With Dr? Sheila, a critical and streaming hit in 2023.
She’s also currently performing live with frequent collaborator Tina Fey. The pair recently announced 2025 dates for their Restless Leg Tour, with a dozen new stops planned in such cities as Detroit, Houston, Las Vegas and Atlantic City.
